 Exposure Exhibit 2015

Come in from the cold this February to check out the photography exhibit "Exposure". Established by the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies to encourage the broader community to consciously examine, question and appreciate the medium of photography, the celebration includes multiple exhibitions and activities in Banff and Calgary.

The PPOC-AB central branch is contributing to "Exposure" by hosting a juried exhibition of prints for viewing and sale. I created the photograph I am contributing to the festival on a cold winter morning at the golf course across the street from my home. Entitled Frozen, it was selected to be on the cover of the promotional brochure for the festival.

Some Play It Cool, Some Like It Hot

Kettle Valley Winery Photography Workshop

I have known Bob Ferguson, co-founder and owner of Kettle Valley Winery in Naramata BC, for years through our mutual appreciation of hiking the back-country of the Canadian Rockies at Lake O'Hara. This past August, Bob arranged a combination photography workshop and wine tasting experience and I was honoured that he invited me to be the instructor.

The workshop was a single day event comprised of a slide show, demonstrating various field techniques with the camera, followed by travelling to several different locations to photograph vineyards and the Okanagan Vallery. It was an inspiring experience for me to meet others interested in the same endeavour and to share our knowledge and ideas. It was especially enjoyable to photograph a particular vineyard and then retire for a delicious outdoor meal accompanied by wine produced from the very vineyard we had just photographed!

We hope to make this an annual event. If you are interested in joining us, please e-mail me and I will let you know the specific dates for 2015.

Agora Gallery

The fall edition of  Agora Gallery's contemporary art magazine, Art is Spectrum, The Chelsea Perspective is now available for viewing in print or on-line. Also on-line is an interview I did with Agora about my experiences and tips for donating art. I give 50% of my profits to the NAture Conservancy and the Royal Canadian Geographic Society and have also donated photographs to charitable events.

Also, if you happen to be in New York City next Autumn, I will be participating in "Illumination: An Exhibition of Fine Art Photography" at the Agora Gallery in November 2015 and it would be wonderful to see you there!
