Travel & Landscape

The spirit of exploration has been a dominant force throughout my life. In 1988, upon completion of my first university degree, I travelled to Japan where I settled into an Eastern cultural lifestyle in the seaside city of Hakodate, on the northernmost prefecture of Hokkaido. I resided there for two years, teaching English while studying Japanese language and arts. This experience further propelled me to explore the Pacific Rim countries and from 1990-91 I embarked on a back-packing expedition through China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, and Australia. Living abroad for three years inspired me to see my own country in a new light. I am now devoted to exploring Canada, from the Atlantic, to the Pacific, and to the Arctic ocean coastlines. Through the past decades I have lived in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario, and Alberta. This opportunity has enhanced my appreciation for the distinct landscapes and history of these regions. I plan to spend the rest of my lifetime exploring the varied regions of Canada, creating visual images of the landscape in conjunction with collecting stories about the fascinating people who inhabit these lands.
